Developed from Pre-Mac's highly successful PWP, Trekker Travel Well is designed to meet requirements where size and weight are critical. A highly compact unit, Trekker uses the proven Pre-Mac system to provide safe drinking water from contaminated sources by elimination of pathogenic organisms - bacteria, viruses and cysts.

In operation the source water is initially filtered, cleaning the water and removing organic matter as well as chemical contamination. This is followed by disinfection using an iodine-resin complex which acts as a contact microbiocide but also releases a low level of iodine into the water for secondary disinfection. Secondary disinfection occurs during the recommended holding period.

The Trekker is convenient to use and will product 1 litre of water in 5 minutes. The rated capacity of Trekker is 200 litres, it is a very quick and simple operation to replace the filtration and disinfection tubes which requires no tools.

The effectiveness of Trekker has been proven in tests carried out by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In these total elimination of the bacteria Eschedria coli at 10^8.5 per litre was recorded whilst reductions of Poliovirus in excess of 99.9%, with a holding time of 3 minutes, were recorded. It was also shown that this effectiveness was unimpaired after treating 200 litres of water.
